Taguchi Optimization of Surface Roughness and Material Removal Rate in CNC Milling of Polypropylene + 5wt.% Quarry Dust Composites

Abstract The Taguchi optimization technique was utilized to determine the optimal milling parameters that can be used in end face CNC operation of polypropylene+5wt.% quarry dust using high-speed steel (HSS) tool. Three input i.e. feed rate (f), cutting speed spindle (N) and depth cut (d c ) were optimized while considering surface roughness (Ra) machined composite material removal (MRR) during machining as responses experimental design. From results, (100 rpm) (120 mm/min) most important control which greatly influence at 41.4% 28.8% contribution respectively. In case rate, (0.8 mm) dominating factor 98% contribution.
